Case of the Week - Case # 20

28 month old male presents with a history of no urine output for 36 hours.  The patient has a PMH of chronic reflux EMsono US Case of the Weeknephropathy and underwent surgical correction one year ago.  He was admitted one month later with an episode of urinary retention and was found to have a urethral stricture.  Father states that the child really has not been eating or drinking much in the past 3 days so he attributed the decreased urine output to dehydration.  The patient appears dehydrated and he has a temperature of 39.6 C.  On physical examination, the patient has diffuse lower abdominal tenderness.  You perform an ultrasound of the patient’s bladder ...
